It's really painful to hear from someone that she's pregnant. It's been a long six years where everytime I hear news of pregnancy, of course I am elated for the couple but deep in my heart, I feel a strong tinge of sadness sweeping in my heart. I will always get depressed for a few days and ponder...Why can't it be me? When will it be my turn?

I know ALLAH is certainly testing us. People wish us well all the time and prayers come pouring in as they know how much we really want a child. I am glad my parents and in-laws have NEVER ever stress us out and have always stood by our side.

If I'm on the road or at a clinic, and I see a pregnant lady, I will always wonder how it feels like to be pregnant and how wonderful it is to carry a life inside you. Just thinking about the whole journey makes me tear. Going to KK Hospital to visit newborns is really hard. Watching a family cooing over their precious little one never fail to bring me down.

I told myself someday when I am pregnant... I will become a smiley happy mummy. I will read Quranic verses for my baby every single night and I will make sure everything I do will be for the best of our little one.

AND...

ALLAH has certainly heard our never-failing prayers!!! AT last!

I thank all for your prayers ...
We are expecting our little bundle of joy soon, Insya ALLAH!

No words can describe the long and arduous journey,
No words can describe the elation we feel when I see the + sign,
No words or even tears can amount to the hope I have for my long-awaited gift from ALLAH

PRICELESS!

:) ...well ...that will be another entry some day.

Now all that I want to do is to become a happy mummy ...

I have said my piece!

I was blog hopping the other day and chanced upon an entry that brought me back to the good old days in the 80s when me and family were still in Boon Lay. Well in short, it brought back sweet memories that I know will never be repeated in the lives of our future generations.
Following are the days ...I think only the adults can relate to this ...

1. You grew up watching He-man, Transformers, Silverhawk, Ultraman, Super Friends, Woody WoodPecker, Tom & Jerry, Care Bears, My Little Pony, Smurfs and Mickey Mouse. Not to forget, maybe Ninja turtles too.
I say : Smurfs! The blue little things with the only female in their brood. That was my Fav! I could also remember till now all the names of the Ninja turtles with the enemies included because of my bro! At least it has not gone to waste memorising it coz Thaqeef luvs it too.

2. You grew up brushing your teeth with a mug in primary school during recess time. You would squat by a drain with all your classmates beside you, and brush your teeth with a colored mug. The teachers said you must brush each side ten times. Not forgetting the silly red tablet which you know not the purpose for.
I say : I looked forward to this tooth brushing by the drain. It was the only time we could splash water on the grass and also on our frens. Mine was a Red mug! It was always red no other colours!

3. You know what SBC stands for.
I say : Singapore Broadcasting Corporation. who can forget that?

4. You know in school, you could subscribe to get the milk which would come before you go back home. Some days you would get chocolate milk, other days strawberry. The old Magnolia fresh milk came in a triangular packet.
I say : I had to beg my parents for $1.50 every week for that week's supply. If it was plain white milk, forget it...but if it was chocolate or strawberry...I LIKE...

5. You were there when the first Chinese serial, The Awakening was shown on TV.
I say : Ah! The beginning of my love for local Chinese serials...

6. Everyone in class would tremble in fear when someone with a gauze stuck in the mouth came to your class and called out a name to go visit the school dentist.
I say : Not me! I love the dentist! It was fun being on the chair having a person clean your mouth. Also, the minty clean sensation after every visit!

7. You find your friends with pagers and handphone cool in secondary school.
I say : My time, there was no hp yet. It was only pagers and those who have it are usually those who worked part time at KFC or Mcdonalds!

8. SBS buses used to be non-airconditioned. The bus seats were made of wood and the cushion was red. The big red bell gave a loud BEEEP when pressed. There were colorful tickets for CSS buses. The conductor would check tickets using a machine that punched a hole in each ticket. All SBS buses used to be manually operated, with a gigantic gearstick to the left of the driver.
I say : I would remember the nausea feeling after a long trip to nani's place at Toa Payoh. It must be double decker bus or I won't board it!

9. Your favorite actor and actress were Huang Wenyong and Xiang Yun. Next were Li Nanxing and Zoe Tay and the Aiyoyo woman (Chen Liping).
I say : Ah...Pretty Faces...my favourite show! The kampung teacher Ai Yo Yo!

10. You’ve probably read Young Generation magazine. You know who’s Vinny the Little Vampire and Constable Acai.
I say : BOOK WORM CLUB!

11. You were there when they first introduced MRT here (Yio Chu Kang to Toa Payoh). You went for the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

12. Movie tickets used to cost only $3.50. Tickets were scrawled across using big red pencils. Ushers brought you into the cinemas using big metallic torchlights.
says: $3.50 huh… those were the days.

13. Gals were fascinated by Strawberry Short Cake and Barbie Dolls. You also collected sticker books of Street Fighter, The Semi-Pro Soccer League (for boys) and care bears (for girls) by Panini, trying to complete the impossible task of filling up each sticker book.
I say : 30 cents for every sticker! I completed the Panini Dinosaurs series!

14. You remember some taxis were green in color. Taxis had gearsticks behind the steering wheel, with a transparent knob and little colorful flowers inside the knobs.

15. You longed to buy tidbits called Kaka (20 cents per pack), and Ding Dang (50 cents per box), that had a toy in it and it changes every week. Not forgetting the 15-cent animal crackers and the ringpop, where the lollipop is the diamond on the ring. There were such things like the 20-cent dinosaur eggs, the 10-cent satay, Choki Choki Chocolate Sticks and the all favorite 10-cent “Air batu” that broke into two parts to be shared amongst friends.
I say : Ah I crave for Air Batu! Kaka was chicken flavoured and Ding Dang was chocolate balls!

16. You watched TV2 (also known as Channel 10) cartoons because Channel 5 never had enough cartoons for you.

17. All that you know about Cantonese is from the Hong Kong serials you watched on TV2. You probably would remember George Lam as the moustached man whose line was “Are you OK?” in the Guinness Stout Advertisement.

18. You grew up reading ladybird books. Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, The Three Investigators, Famous Five and Secret Seven were probably the thickest story books you ever thought you had. Even Sweet Valley High and Malory Towers. You also love Enid Blyton’s Enchanted Wood, Magic Faraway tree… and the 5-dollar Bookworm book you bought when there was a book fair in school.
I say : My fav till today Enid Blyton and till now I look forward to book fairs in schs!

19. The only food you bought from McDonalds was the fish fillet burger and French fries as it wasn’t halal back then and your parents didn’t allow you to buy other stuff.

20. KFC used to be a high class place that let you use metal forks and knives.

21. The most vulgar thing you said was “asshole” and “idiot”… you just couldn’t bring yourself to say the Hokkien relative.
I say : My mom would rinse my mouth with soap if she knew I used those words or another form of punishment is-Mummy cili mulut nak?

22. Catching was the “in” thing (a.k.a. Police and Thief) and twist or “choap” was the magic word. For those who always frequented the void decks, there was the “rumah dayak”, Octopus and “Goli Duit”.
I say : Chop! Play masak2 want?

23. Your English workbook was made of some poor quality paper that was smooth and yellow. And the textbooks were striped in different colors for different levels.
says: who can forget those brown-covered exercise books?

24. Some part of your school was ALWAYS haunted, like the toilet or clock tower or a certain block. You walk fast to avoid them.

25. The only computer lessons in school involved funny pixel characters in 16 colors walking about trying to teach you math. You printed with noisy dot matrix printers and used computer paper with two rows of holes at the sides. Mouse? What’s that?

26. Waterbottles, with your favorite cartoon character on it, were slung around your neck and a must everywhere you go.
I say : mine was slung on one shoulder!

27. Boys loved to play soccer with small tennis balls in the basketball court.

28. Hopscotch, five stones, chapteh and zero point were all the rage with the girls and boys too… Remember 5 times, highest, one-inch…
I say : Ah Express! And the bullying I did to my sibs coz I needed to practice my zero point!

29. Science was fun with the balsam and the angsana being the most important plants of our lives. Remember the “Young Scientist” badge you got when you completed the set of tasks in written on the blue booklet for “Young Ecologist”, “Young Botanist”, etc? The first excursion to the Science Centre was the best day of your life.
I say : PONG PONG! I got the Young Botanist and Zoologist. It became my ambition to live in the wild safari of Africa!

30. Who could forget Ahmad, Bala, Gopal, Sumei, Peihua and John, eternalised in the textbooks. Even Mr. Wolly, Mr. Yakki.

31. You did stupid exercises like seal crawl and frog jumps.
I say : Star jumps!

32. Every Children’s Day and National Day you either get pencils or pens printed with “Happy Children’s Day 1983″ or dumb files printed with “Happy National Day 1984″.

33. In Primary Six you had to play buddy for the younger kids like big sister and brother.

34. There was an ACES day where you would get this stupid hat and do the Great Singapore Workout.

35. The Scouts used to wear shorts, and the NCC uniform was a plain green color without camouflage.

36. The worksheets were made of rough brown paper of poor quality. During art and craft classes, you had to make your own art folio using a vanguard sheet.

37. You went to school in slippers and a raincoat when it rained, and you find a dry spot in the school to sit and wipe yourself dry. Then you wear your dry and warm socks and shoes.

38. During National Day, you would have to do and decorate your own shakers, usually using a cassette tape container, or an empty aluminium can with green beans inside all taped up and decorated with white and red paper. Who can forget the all-time favorite recorder you played during music lessons?
I say : Till now, I am hopeless in recorders! I love the pianica though!

39. After exams, you brought Game & Watch to school, and played card games like “Snap”, “Donkey” and “Old Maid”. You also played pick-up sticks and Snakes & Ladders and the aeroplane board game. Those erasers with the flags were also a popular game. Either that or you would play those cards comparing aeroplanes, warships, or tanks — who had more firepower or speed or weight, etc.

40. You remember your uncles, big brothers and father screaming and shouting in front of the TV when the Singapore soccer team (always in blue jerseys) played against the Malaysians.
I say : In my family we had Nina Moorthy! Our cat that played kitty soccer like a pro!

41. Your friends considered you lucky and rich if your parents gave you $3 or more for pocket money everyday.
I say : I got 50 cents till P6 and $1 from Sec 1.

42. During class gatherings, parents always tag along in case someone gets lost at Orchard Road.

43. You freak out when the teacher tells you to line up according to height and hold hands with the corresponding boy or girl.
I say : It was EEEEEEEEEEE!

44. Handkerchieves were a must for both genders.

45. Collecting notebooks, erasers and all kinds of stationery was a popular thing. The bookshop was a favorite place to go to get all those stuff during recess.

46. Autograph books were loaded with “Best Wishes”, “Forget Me Not”, and little poems like “Birds fly high, hard to catch. Friends like you, hard to forget”.

47. Class monitors and prefects loved to say “You talk somemore, I write your name ah!”

I say : Ah! I still remember this female prefect that maligned me. One day I'm gonna gorge her eyes out!

48. You remember songs sung by a huge group of people, like 4U2C, Feminin, Nico (Malay) and the English “We Are The World”. In secondary school, you listened to Bananarama, Jason Donavan, Kylie Minogue, New Kids on the Block, ABBA, and Tommy Page (Remember “A Shoulder to Cry On“?)
I say : Ah Jason Donovan and Tommy Page were my hearthrobs! Satanism? Any1 remembered?

49. Large, colorful schoolbags were carried. And fanciful pencil cases with lots of small tiny drawers, trays, sharpener or thermometer that pop out at the push of a button were the “in” thing.

50. You brought every single book to school, even though there was one thing called the timetable, written on the inside cover of your little blue notebook.

Why do people embrace a religion? It's just a question that has been on my mind this few days.

First , it was because of Dilemma Wanita on Monday which potrayed a lady mualaf who changed the course of a Muslim family in realising what Islam means to all of us. Then, it was this hoo-ha on the Korean missionaries who thought infiltrating Afghanistan with their belief was darn easy. But what happened? One after another was killed and all because the Talibans were not in the fashion of converting. Then, it was this gossip that I shared with Siti about a so-called mualaf who went around with Assalamualaikums in the beginning but now?

ok, let's come back...

Why do we embrace a religion?

1) We are born with a certain faith.

2) We believe in the faith and it is out of one's own will.

3) We fall hopelessly in love with a person of a different faith and decided to abandon our own long standing belief so as to attain bliss.

Let's just say I agree with the first two reasons.
For one, I am reason No 1. I respect those who did it for Reason No 2 coz to discover is really a wonder and a blessing. You never know until you fail right?

As for reason no 3...*sighs* I don't deny the fact we have some examples of converts who really embraced Islam with equal devotion after marriage. As it is, I know of 2 family members who married non-Muslims. One is a lady convert by the name of Wardah and also another whom I don't remember his name. Yes, they became Muslims because of love and now they are really in the right path doing what a Muslim should be doing. One has passed but his legacy as a Muslim convert still lives on in his children who still bears his Chinese surname. Well, to add on, there are many other converts who embraced Islam just so they can get married. How desperate it sounds right? If you ask me , I know more of derailed converts than the ones on the right paths. When they first learned about Islam, they became what Muslims should do. They greet you with salams everytime they see you, they changed their clothing from sleeveless to covered ones from short ugly skirts to nice demure long ones, covering tattooed arms with baju kurungs and also to many extents in convincing us that they are becoming Muslims because of their belief not by the force of love. LOL...sooner or later it all comes to light. Do you think it's that easy? Let me tell you, my fren... it ain't easy. Sacrifices are inevitable.

Wait, stop! Am I sounding like a terrorist already? Coz what I know is, when a Muslim talks passionately about his religion, immediately the society brands him as being the enemy of the state. But when someone else with a different religion charges into a poverty-stricken, war-torn and disaster-torn place to imbue their belief, they are known as samaritans and not terrorist. But we are all passionate and defensive of our own religion, aren't we? We stand up to what we believe in, regardless of what religion we embrace ourselves.

HAHAHAHA...how funny life is....how fun it is to watch humans toy with words and actions to get away with murder...

Let me repeat that again... I am not a terrorist neither am I trying to brew any disagreements between any parties.... I have many and I mean MANY, LOTS of good or should I say many BEST buddies who are NON-MUSLIMS! They stood by me when I needed them. Some have even been reigned as keepers of my heart. Even some of my own Muslim frens are nothing in comparison to these Non-Muslim confidantes of mine. Truly, I treasure them more that I treasure the others.

Ah, do you believe me now?
If you don't then,
WHO CARES ANYWAY?
... it's just what I see ...
it's just me!
